Time to comment on gas prices.
I am not an economist or a broker or even a market analyst I work for an insurance company but it doesnt take a crazy scientist to see that something is going on here. As many news outlets are reporting Shell’s 2nd quarter earnings of 11.6 Billion dollars….are you kidding me? I barely make over 11.6 dollars an hour and a company made 11.6 Billion dollars in net profit. What?! I can barely afford to put gas in my jeep and these people have 11.6 Billion dollars to play with. Here is an idea. Instead of government stimulus checks why not Gas stimulus checks? The oil companies should give back to the people who fuel (no pun intended) their companies and pay for their Yaht’s and country club memberships.
It was reported that the CEO of Exxon made 21.7 million dollars in 2007. Most people will never see 1 million dollars in a lifetime nevermind 21.7. What does one even do with that kind of money? Gold toilet seats? A champagne filled bath tub all necessities i am sure.
Think about this when you are driving to work staring at your gas needle and hoping you make it to payday….feel better knowing that there is someone making 21.7 million dollars who couldnt care less how much you have to pay for gas.
